AbleAgers was founded on the belief that aging is a chapter to be embraced — and yoga can help write it beautifully.
AbleAgers was born from the same vision that created Brightroots Yoga — Suchitra Agrawal's kids yoga program for the Bay Area. After years of bringing yoga to children in schools and daycares, Suchitra saw an equally underserved population: seniors who had never had access to quality, age-appropriate yoga instruction.
Too many yoga programs are designed for able-bodied adults in their 30s and 40s. Seniors — especially those in assisted living or with mobility challenges — are left out entirely. AbleAgers exists to change that.
Like Brightroots, AbleAgers takes the studio to the community. We partner with senior centers, retirement communities, and care facilities to bring certified, specialty-trained instructors to the spaces seniors already call home.
We go to senior centers, retirement community halls, and adult day programs — not the other way around. We remove every barrier between seniors and the profound benefits of yoga.
Every program is designed around the real capabilities of older adults — never condescending, always empowering. We meet seniors where they are and celebrate every milestone.
Our curriculum is grounded in peer-reviewed research on yoga for older adults, fall prevention, cognitive health, and chronic pain management. We don't guess — we know it works.
Chair-based. No floor work required. No prior yoga experience needed. Programs adapt to walkers, wheelchairs, limited range of motion, and cognitive challenges.
Yoga class is often a social highlight of the week for many of our participants. We bring warmth, humor, music, and genuine human connection to every session.
Brightroots Yoga is AbleAgers' dedicated kids yoga program, serving children ages 5–12 at Bay Area schools and daycares. AbleAgers is the parent organization — one founder, one mission, one community. Whether your loved ones are 5 years old or 83, AbleAgers has a program for them.
